About the Event
Join us for the 2025 State of the African American Community Address, an inspiring evening dedicated to reflection, networking, and celebration with the theme, Persevering for Progress. This year's event will feature the premiere of Tangled Roots, a powerful opera composed by Rufus Ferguson, Carmen Bell and Jordan Hamilton, and featuring Von Washington, and Marissa Herrington.
Based on the Born in Slavery: Slave Narratives from the Federal Writers' Project, Tangled Roots delves into the poignant stories and histories of African American lives. Immerse yourself in an evening of powerful storytelling and community engagement.
